Saints Peter & Paul Parish Cricket Team:

Our parish cricket enthusiasts aim to recapture the glories of the past by contesting a few social friendly matches against other Church opposition during the summer.  We are already invited to Ripon.  The emphasis will be on the social/fun sphere where players' families and their supporters would also have a day out.  If your parish want a game contact ... Gerard Moran on 01943 875658 or gmtheave@fsmail.net  Five or six matches with opposition from far and wide have been confirmed.  All we need now is your prayers and just a bit of luck.  Gerard arranges squad meetings periodically for practice and bonding purposes.

So far this season the team played in Ripon, Tong, Homewood, Otley,  Menston, Headingley and Harrogate.  The venture has been a huge social success.

Following the success of the cricket team it is now hoped to form a parish football team when again the emphasis will be on the social dimension.   Those interested should talk to Gerard Moran on the contact number above.  The Saints Peter and Paul Team got the season off to an exciting start in losing 5-4 to the Guiseley Globetrotters.  In a pulsating end to end game our scorers were Lee Rhodes 2, Kevin Gilks 1 and Jamie Hudson 1.  It was a great afternoon and the emerging talented squad wish to thank their many loud and loyal supporters.  Training continues each Wednesday at Guisely AFC all weather pitch from 9 p.m.-10 p.m.  The thirty players in training give the selectors the proverbial welcome headache but all will get a chance to shine throughout the season.

Annual  Party  for  Ministers:   Last Monday night's gathering of those involved in the different parish ministries was a wonderful success.  An excellent attendance enjoyed the food and drink but more importantly appreciated the social character of the occasion.  One parishioner wrote "I met up with people I'd never spoken to before and it was most enjoyable" A special word of thanks to those who helped wash and clear up afterwards.
